1. Who you're contracting with

Cool Weather Compass ("we", "us", "the site") is operated by Kevin Oliver, an individual sole proprietor ("the operator"). By using the site or leaving a tip through it, you are entering an agreement with the operator.

2. Acceptance

By continuing to use Cool Weather Compass, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.

3. What the site offers

Cool Weather Compass publishes editorial travel guidance and links to third-party booking, gear, and connectivity partners. It also allows readers to leave a one-time voluntary tip in support of the site.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the site, including: using it for unlawful purposes, fraud, or spam; infringing intellectual property; probing, scanning, or interfering with site security; scraping content at scale; or using automated means to submit tips.

5. Intellectual property

All original writing, photography, illustrations, and site design on Cool Weather Compass are owned by the operator. You may link to pages freely and quote short excerpts with attribution. You may not republish full articles, images, or design elements without written permission.

6. Service level

The site is provided on an "as is" basis. We make no guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or continuously available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are disclaimed.

7. Tips and payment handling

Cool Weather Compass does not process payments itself. Tips are collected through an external tip platform (Ko-fi). When you choose to tip, you leave this site and complete the payment on that platform under its own terms and privacy policy. Your receipt comes from them, and this site never receives or stores your card details.

Any billing question about a tip should be raised with the tip platform, or with us by email — see the Refund Policy for how to request a refund.

8. Tips

Tips left through the site are voluntary one-time payments. They are not charitable donations and are not tax-deductible. Tips do not entitle you to any product, service, or preferential editorial treatment. Refunds for tips are covered by our Refund Policy.

9. Third-party links

The site contains affiliate and non-affiliate links to third parties (Booking.com, Amazon, Get Your Guide, eSIM providers, cruise partners, and others). We are not responsible for the content, terms, pricing, safety, or availability of those third-party services. Your transactions with them are governed by their terms, not ours.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the site (or refuse a tip) at our discretion for: material breach of these Terms, non-payment or chargeback abuse, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator's aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the site or any tip is limited to the total amount you paid to the site in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages, including lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where such exclusion is prohibited by law.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer-protection law.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
